
Kukkiwon is the world headquarters for the sport of taekwondo, which originated in Korea and became
an official Olympic event during the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games. Constructed in 1972, Kukkiwon was
built to spread taekwondo to the world and to enhance the mind and skills of the Korean people.
The gymnasium, which accommodates 3,000 people, holds various national and international events.
There are also training courses for foreigners as well as exhibition games for foreign guests.
