Seongeup Folk Village The area of Seongeup-ri, Pyoson-myon, still remains as a typical mountain village, and is home to a number of cultural treasures, both tangible and intangible. This area was Cheju's provincial capital during the Koryo period, and the area has been maintained by the local government, receiving a designation as Important Cultural Property #188. The village contains about 3,000 thatched roof houses with stone and clay walls where villagers still live, although some have added modern amenities.

Ccju084 Also located here are Hyangkyo, Tolharubang, an old government building, and tomb stones. The unique characteristics found here include folk songs, tradition foods, craftmanship, and the Cheju provincial dialect. In addition, designated natural monuments of old, tall trees supplement the village image. A souvenir shop sells the usual assortment of tiny harubang, keychains, and other touristy items.
