When Andong Dam was built in 1976, the resulting lake was going to
submerge many historical and cultural properties. Rather than lose them forever, they were removed and the
Andong Folk Village was created to house them. The village has 14 different traditional buildings and
structures, many of which serve as traditional restaurants highlighting local foods. Also contained here
is the Andong Folk Museum.
Seokbinggo is an ancient cold storage area. Frozen blocks of ice cut from the Nakdong
river were ekpt here. Local fish were also kept here for preservation. Although actually relocated
in 1976 along with the other structures in the village, it was originally constructed in 1737. It
was designated Treasure #305.
Food and Drink:
Many of the buildings in the village also serve as restaurants offering local specialties. The
people are very friendly and the food is good.
